Course Portfolio

The University of Michigan – Dearborn College of Engineering and Computer Science is a leader in providing quality graduate and undergraduate programs. CECS programs are developed in close partnership with the industrial and technical communities, integrating research, technological applications and real-world engineering skills required to be competitive in today’s global marketplace.

To meet the need for innovation in higher education, several CECS graduate programs and many courses are offered via the Distance Learning Network. Distance Learning Network courses offer the same quality and rigor of a campus-based course, with the unique advantage of allowing students to coordinate education with the demands and priorities of their personal and professional lives.

CECS courses are offered asynchronously through Internet technologies and recorded video lectures. Students collaborate with instructors and other students enrolled in both the distance and campus-based sections of the course via live chat and threaded discussions. All assignments and projects can be completed and submitted via the course management system (Virtual Learning Tool). Examinations are proctored and may be taken with the campus-based section, with a DLN staff member, or by arrangement at a remote location approved by DLN staff. The Higher Learning Commission and the U of M – Ann Arbor Rackham School of Graduate Studies have approved all of the CECS Distance Learning Network programs.
